As digital media continues to grow, we’re excited to announce a new addition to our team – Ryan Johnson, Morgan & Co.’s Digital Media Strategist. He has years of experience in the digital world and is an asset to the Morgan & Co. team.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from the Southeast Coast of Massachusetts, right near Cape Cod but have been living in the Baton Rouge area since I moved to Louisiana to attend LSU in 2007.
Why did you decide on marketing as a career?
It was more of a happy accident than anything. I was originally planning to attend grad school for Social Work but I got engaged and realized I needed to get a job and make some money. I’d always been interested in marketing and I was able to turn my Sociology degree and naivety into a successful career.
What is your favorite part of marketing?
As a bit of a statistics nerd, I really like to dig into the data and find patterns that can help a business’ marketing efforts be even more effective.
How do you create a great client experience?
For me, communication is key in creating a great client experience. This means you need to communicate often, honestly and openly in order to make sure your client understands they are an integral part of the process.
Why is it important for a business to have a strong digital strategy?
In the world we live in, media funnels towards the digital space. We all live life with a computer at our fingertips and use it constantly. To put your best foot forward as a business, you have to make sure your digital strategy reflects this.
Tell me about a brand that you think is an example of good marketing.
This might be a bit of an obvious one, but Wendy’s has really done a great job. Outside of building a strong, effective brand over the decades, they’ve been able to leverage Twitter by creating a unique voice that has caused them to go viral more than once.
Favorite thing about New Orleans?
This is easy…the food! There’s something for everyone in New Orleans and you could go a whole year without eating at the same place. Some of my favorites are Katie’s, Sofia, Domenica and Red Gravy.
What’s something fun about you that is unexpected?
I used to have long curly hair that I donated to Locks of Love, an organization that accepts donations of hair with the intention of making wigs for children who have lost their hair due to medical reasons.
