The popularity of intelligent personal assistants like Siri and Alexa is growing. The growth of U.S. smart speaker ownership is projected to expand from 7% to 75% between 2017 and 2020. Right now, smart phones are still the king of voice search, and the majority of searches are location specific. But the voice search landscape is changing rapidly.
So what does all of this mean for marketers? Marketing activities using voice are still in their infancy, but are bound to grow considering the recent groundswell. Early implementors of voice marketing would do well to consider strategies based on device type and the types of activities popular for local search. It’s important to optimize campaigns for voice search and follow the best organic search practices.
